(12/13/2020). Meeting the judges of Indonesian Language Competition in the USA 2020 always very interesting. Among all the judges was Jolanda M. Pandin, the President of COTI (Consortium for Teaching of Indonesian in the US), the judge of Essay category. Jolanda Pandin is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Asian Studies at Cornell. Ms. Pandin has more than 20 years of experience in teaching Indonesian language and culture in North America and Indonesia.
One of the judges was also Dustin Carrel Cowell, President of the COTI Program 1999-2004. Mr. Cowell is a Professor Emeritus at the University of Wisconsin, Madison who is an expert in Literary studies, Language and language pedagogy, Cultural studies and some other areas.
To complete the formation, Rahmi Hartati Aoyama, the Secretary and Communication Manager of COTI, was lined up as the third judge. Ms. Aoyama is an Indonesian instructor at Foreign Language Department, Northern Illinois University (NIU) and at the Indonesian Cultural Center in Chicago. Currently, she is working on her PhD in Instructional Technology at Northern Illinois University.
