Washington, DC., (09/10/2020). KIBAR (Kitorang Bicara) or “We talk”, a serial-webinar held by the Indonesian Embassy in Washington D.C., USA through the Attaché for Education and Culture has been successfully held up to the 4th series.

In this series, KIBAR tried to discuss the main theme regarding mechanical engineering majors at a number of well-known universities both in Indonesia and abroad. Prof. Popy Rufaidah, the Education and Cultural Attaché, chaired this event. The presentation was initiated by Prof. Santosh Devasia, a professor in mechanical engineering at the University of Washington, Seattle and Director of Boeing Advanced Research Center. Prof. Devasia explained that his campus is trying to bring university and industry together to create a great ecosystem for working in industrial research. He also revealed a number of advantages of the Mechanical Engineering department at the University of Washington, one of which is the Boeing Advanced Research Center.
The next presentation was delivered by Yoshua Combo, a Ph.D. student at the School of Mechanical Engineering University of Washington, Seattle. On that occasion, Mr. Combo gave a short presentation about “Object Transport Using Multi Robot System. He conveyed his tendency to choose Multi Robot System (MRS) over Single Robot System (SRS). According to Mr. Combo, the advantages of MRS are that it is flexible, has a robust system, and is scalable. He added that MRS can be used as a transport object.
After that, the discussion continued with a presentation by Julianti Madiuw, Master of Science in Operation Research Mechanical and Industrial Engineering Department, Northeastern University. Ms. Madiuw gave a presentation entitled “Supply Chain for Thousands of Small Islands in Maluku”. She mapped the problem of the supply system for goods in the Maluku Islands and at the same time provided an alternative solution to solve this problem, namely the Facility Location Model.
Regarding the supply chain of goods, the next discussion was delivered by Nyoman Pujawan, Ph.D., CSCP., A lecturer in Industrial Engineering at Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS), Surabaya. Mr. Pujawan said that research on supply chains in industry is very important. Mr. Pujawan, the Chairperson of the Indonesian Supply Chain & Logistic Institute, also outlined a number of research areas on the supply chain of goods that can be taken. These areas include functional research, integration research, thematic issues, and finally the influence of 4.0 industry on the supply chain. In addition, Mr. Pujawan is also very supportive of Indonesian students who are interested in research on the supply chain of goods.
